Default Stainless bolts aren't har

Stainless bolts aren't harder. In fact the vast magority are softer then your grade 10.9 or 12.9 bolts. Putting a stainless bolt in place of
an 8.8 bolt is normally OK.

Upgrading to zinc plated is a good move over black oxide bolts.

In areas of heat- stainless should not be used in place of carbon steel.

Care should be taken fitting stainless. If the threads are not perfect they can gall togethor and ruin your day.
