When you're at the top of the automotive food chain, you are free to say what you want with impunity. Bugatti CEO Thomas Bscher's remark "we don't want rappers" was the reigning outrageous statement, but now, Ferrari head honco Amadeo Felisa has taken the title, laying down the law on hybrids, the "green" trend and emissions regulations in a very diplomatic manner.
The interview is fairly short (only four questions) but the talk with Autocar gets straight to the point. You know exactly what Felisa's getting at when he says that "Lowering emissions of every Ferrari will not save the planet, but it will cost us a lot of money." Ferrari's are never daily driven, and the amount of time they spent on the road means their carbon emissions are negligible.
With even Porsche readying their hybrid supercar, it's nice to see that one company is willing to be totally unapologetic and politically incorrect, even if the facts are on Ferrari's side.
