You thought having a Ferrari Enzo was cool enough these days? How about a twin turboed one that set a class speed record (and subsequently an Enzo top speed record) of 238 mph? Our only regret is not being able to hear just how amazing this piece of machinery must sound – at idle and at 200+ mph.
To top it all off, this Enzo sports 31,366 miles on its odometer making it the most driven Ferrari Enzo ever. Fastest and most used, that's an interesting combination wouldn't you say?
The record wasn't achieved without its own hurdles to overcome. The twin turbo Enzo had its fair share of problems from finding the proper tune to a troublesome parachute. Owned by Richard Losee, the team had one final run before the day would come to an end out at the Bonneville Salt Flats and team tuner Shane Tecklenburg did one last tune and kept his fingers crossed that it'd be enough.
"I had to leave for the airport literally right when we made the run as I was headed for a race in Phoenix," said tuner Shane Tecklenburg. "I was changing the tune up while we were towing the car back to the pit and I left immediately afterward not really knowing if what I had done would be enough to get them there."
Well, clearly Shane had some good news when he got to the airport as the Enzo hit 238.142 mph with an average run of 237.81 mph.
