Default FS: 1981 Ferrari 400i

This 1981 Ferrari 400i has smooth, strong V 12 power with the reliability of a GM TH400 transmission, from the factory! This is the gentlemen's Ferrari, and can seat 4 comfortably. Working A/C, power steering and brakes, power windows, mirrors and antenna. Car is original and unmolested. Records back to the mid 80s, all contained in a nice, 2” thick binder. Owner’s manual. Jack roll in trunk. Always enthusiast owned, and well cared for. Just tuned, with new plugs, wires, cap and brakes. Rebuilt alternators, power steering pump, and transmission. New battery. Recent oil change. Straight, solid, rust-free body with very nice paint. Panel gaps good to excellent. Excellent headliner. All glass in good shape. Excellent interior, with nice crack-and wrinkle-free dash. New in dash Alpine CD player with iPod connectivity. This is a fully sorted car, in a rare (for a 400i) Rosso Corsa. In the past year, I've had:

both alternators rebuilt
new battery
MSD ignition (cleverly concealed, with original Dinoplex still in original position)
front brake pads
oil change
new exhaust hangers/clamps
new fuse block
rebuilt power steering pump
recharged A/C system
replaced ammeter shunt
replaced fuel pump relay
new plugs
new wires
new ignition contact switch
replaced all vacuum hoses

and, prior to me getting the car in '06:

transmission rebuilt
rear brake calipers rebuilt
new rear brake pads
starter rebuilt

I bought this car to drive, and drive often. All work that has been done during my ownership was intended to restore it to it’s former level of reliability. To that end, this past July I drove it from LA to Chicago and back, a 5000 mile round trip, with zero troubles. No overheating. The car started every time, cold or hot. Now that I’ve proved myself, and the car, it’s time to move on. Own this car for a fraction of the cost that I’ve put into it, and you’ll have a car that will appreciate, and cost you very little in maintenance. This car does NOT need belts changed every 30,000 miles. The electrical system is German (Bosch). The brakes are from a BMW (ATE). The transmission can be serviced at any local transmission shop. The fuel injection is made by Bosch. I noticed during that trip that the speedometer is off by approx. 10%, so the current mileage reading of 72,000 is a bit high. True mileage is in the low 60k range.

Price: only $21,900
