it's the 5amp fuse on fuse board behind drivers seat. labled alarm. it's the only 5amp fuse there. it blows the instant it's inserted?
alarm does not respond to remotes as it's (i assume) disabled with fuse blown!
Possibly a dead alarm siren (dead short due to leaking inernal battery) Remove the metal plate (three screws) on the wiper panel under the screen. Shine a light in there and you will the siren bolted to the inner wing. Remove the plug, put another fuse in and try again. The immobilser circuit will still work with the siren disconnected.
just a quick note to thank you. That worked a dream. I am a grateful irish man
BUT
new problem - can depress clutch, engage gear but when clutuch released NOTHING happens - check fluid etc but all seems fine.
car was driving fine until fuse/siren issue?

Take the cover back off! Look at the white brake fluid reservoir just under the panel. To the left of it is a pipe that comes off the reservoir, and drops down past the alarm siren. It's possible you may have knocked this pipe off when you disconnected the siren; if it's just the pipe come off (and not the nipple broken from the reservoir) you can push it back on. You will then need to bleed the system. PM me if you need any help, i can email you the procedure for bleeding the clutch if you need it......
