Hey local Houston F-talkers...I was in the Montrose/Westheimer Half Price Books Store today, and found about 30 vintage Road & Track magazines from the '50s and '60s. Each one is in great condition, with a clear slip cover. Prices are $3.00-$5.00 each. I picked up 2 1962 issues...one with a cover picture of Phil Hill driving his shark nose 156, and one with a red GT Ferrari that I had never seen before. I will scan and post here. Anyone interested in reading articles about racing in times gone by should go pick up a couple of issues...names like Moss, Hill, Gurney, etc. are all over the pages of these magazines, back when Road & Track actually covered "Track" news.

You should have bagged them all!
I haunt the old book stores as well and once ran across many of the same R&T issues! I only got the Playboy from the month I was born (5/58), only to find an excellent article about the Portago fatality in the Mille Miglia.... He was hired to write an article for the issue! *que Twilight Zone theme here* |

I'll post another recent find....helping a friend on an old house in Galveston, fire job, I pulled a ceiling down and out tumbled a stash of late 50s early 60s "mens mags",...LOL!
As I tossed them out I found a great article: "Dario Resta: The Racer who died twice" Modern Man Magazine |
