1969 365 Daytona questions
Alright, let me start by saying I know nearly nothing about Ferrari's but have been a HUGE fan forever. I will be asking questions that will seem/sound stupid so please work with me on this.
I recently located what appears to be a 1969 365 Daytona. I don't know if its a GTB or GTS. Which brings me to my first question, what is the difference and how do I tell?
This car is in an unrestored condition but appears to be all there and in average condition. I have not spoken to the owner yet and have no more information other that what I saw while walking around the car. I did check the front and rear light lenses to discover the date (1969). I believe the rear lenses had 1967 on them and the front had 1969. It has wire wheels and appears to be all there.
I need to be able to tell if this car is real or a replica. I have lots of dumb questions.
Should this car be all metal or fiberglass? Some of each?
Where do I look for vin numbers?
How do I know if this is a real Ferrari or kit replica?
If it is real how do I determine the model?
What should I look for (problem areas) when inspecting the car?
"Condition"
This car looks to be very solid with no body damage. The paint is faded and although I could buff it out enough to look decent it would need a repaint for sure. Lets assume this car is a kit replica that runs/drives. What would this car be worth (estimated guess)? If this car is genuine in the same condition what would it be worth?
I like the looks of the car and MIGHT consider buying it depending his asking price.
I'm hoping for lots of good advice from the folks here.
Thanks
