Hi.........

Nice car !

Please comment on "high" rear. Seem to have a major amount of room above tires in rear wheel wells.

What tires do you have on the car ??

Hi Frank,

The angle of the pictures kind of magnifies the wheel gap but it's noticeable definately.

The rear tires are Pirelli P6s at 235/60/15s that the PO had on, why I don't know but they are about 1" less in diameter than stock so cause a huge wheel gap, I am currently researching my tire choices as you can see my comments in your tire thread to put on a proper size with a decent brand but am waiting for my colortune to arrive to properly set up the carbs then will install them next.

Regards

Jeff

Default Hi Jeff, The 1" in tire

Hi Jeff,

The 1" in tire diameter would only result in an extra 1/2" at the top. I have the XWX 225/70-15 (27") tires on the back, which are crap, but I don't have that noticable a gap. I'm looking into putting adjustable koni's on the back of my boxer to bring it down a bit. The killer is that you need four. Will have to wait for the credit card to cool down a bit.

Regards,
Grant

Default I agree on the tire diameter,

I agree on the tire diameter, proper sized tires may still leave me with a gap. The rear camber looks off as well on the car, almost a positive looking camber to it so an adjustment may help as well.

Supposedly the shocks were all rebuilt years back, maybe they used incorrect or stiffer springs causing the high rear end, I have read when doing rear suspension work on Boxers you need to let the car sit for a day or so before tightening the mounts to get a proper height, so more things to check on.

I agree the Koni adjustable shocks are the nice ticket for these cars, something else to add to my list.

Regards,

Jeff
