Ok May or may not have been covered but posting in hope to help another like me who found the radio / nav in the 599 a real pile of phoo to handle. My car / unit had the ipod interface. So I decided to have the iPhone take over Nav and Sat radio with aps. Next where to mount it. I don't smoke so Ashtray Insert.
Next issue voltage to iphone is not hte same as iphone so I put in a voltage regulater in line with the extension cable.
Have to say Sat rado app works great! No dropped music going under bridges. Phone nave and radio all work in harmony. I have a plastics shop making the part which will hide the cable and simply plug into your ashtray.
Yesterday I went on a road trip and as I had given my prototype to the company making my finished part I made a quick insert and tried it out it flat out worked great!
See my photo album for shots (forum rules will not allow me to post them here yet)
BUT REMEMBER THIS IS A PROTOTYPE AND THE CABLE IS NOT HIDDEN YET. Plus LOL its BALSA wood not ABS as the final will be next week.
Here is the first out of the mold next will be black and ready for production
