the two foam strips about 8 inches wide and about 18 inches long that fit above the engine on a BBi Boxer...what type of material is that and where do you find it? I need to replace mine...the foam has aged and heat has not done it justice. It is crumbling. Thanks for any help here.

Ferrari UK have not been able to find any foam listed as a part in the rear hood of a Boxer. Does anyone know what the part number is of what I can use. It obviously get hot there and I need something that will not age prematurely nor burn.

Coach I.M.I. - on both my TR and Boxer I have used a product available from the Whitney Catalog. It has a silver side and a foam side, and is insulation for this purpose. You can by it in larger pieces and cut to size. Use spray adhesive to hold to the deck lid. There are several thicknesses. The thicker option is a little too heavy. Try the thinner (1/2 inch, I think). You can order it on-line. Search for insulation at www.jcwhitney.com

Coach - actually, you can glue either side. I chose to have the silver side showing, which is not original, but likely is better from a heat protection perspective. I suspect the protection is more than adequate either way. Your choice.
