I have always fussed over how much trouble it was to clean the oily film on the inside of my Boxer front windshield. It seems the sun heats the leather dash and slowly evaporates some oily substance that coats the windshield. I have been advised to cover the dash with a towel or sheet to keep that from happening, if I were to park the car in the sun for any length of time. Just thought I would pass that on.

One of the best products I've found is Glass Wax by Griots Garage. It's a bitch to apply, and left sitting for awhile it turns into a solid mass, but it does clean off the film. Just not very user friendly.

Hi Dave,

I'm curious about the Griot's Glass Wax...Do you use it on both the inside and outside of the glass? What is the desired "end result", if you will? Thanks.

Regards,
David

David, I used on both sides, it really cleaned the inside film off, and that deposit you get from the wipers on the outside. But as I said, it is a job. It appears to be some sort of clay like material that settles to the bottom of the jar, You have to stir it up, I had to use a power tool just to stir it up. You might get similar results by using a paste of Ajax or similar.
