Default I am considering buying a 77 f

I am considering buying a 77 fibreglass 308 and would appreciate some advice - are there any particular weak points to look for? It is for sale at a dealer for £20,000 - around S35,000 and has had a recent engine re-build. Finally, what sort of performance figures hould it turn out - naturally its a Euro spec.
TIA Andy

Hi Andy, welcome aboard.

We have a very knowledgable 308 Glass owner on board, Barry W, maybe he can give you some pointers.

Until then we had quite a lengthy discussion on Glass cars recently:

Default Andy, The Euro Fiberglass G

Andy,

The Euro Fiberglass GTB is a nice choice. It's the strongest of the series but also the oldest. Performance is in keeping with a car of this vintage. It was fast in its day and still is, if you consider its torque curve. The car comes alive at 4,500 RPM. It's about 200-250 pounds lighter that the steel GTBs and you'll notice that in your test drive.

For the car you're looking at, check its service history and inquire as to the engine rebuild. You'll find that rust is essentially a non-issue, but the rocker panels are steel so look closely at them. The fiberglass body panels are well constructed and received rave reviews at the time. They have held up well over the years and are easily repaired if damaged.

Expect to pay a bit of a premium over a similar steel GTB as there were only 712 fiberglass GTBs made.

Barry
