C’était un Rendezvous
In 1976, a film emerged that, in the words of Jeremy Clarkson, ‘makes Bullitt look like a cartoon.’. Titled, C’était un Rendezvous, it's a real life, highly illegal break-neck drive across Paris and was subsequently banned by French authorities.
A cult classic amongst film and motoring enthusiasts, pirate VHS copies traded hands at $50 each until its' recent re-mastering and re-release on DVD. For years, debate and mystery surrounded the identity of the driver, the car and whether anyone would be insane enough to attempt beating it - until now...
Rendezvous’ director and self-confessed driver in the film, Claude Lelouch, was recently spotted at ClubGT’s supercar hangar in St Johns Wood - clutching a London street map with marked-out route across the capital. The sighting has fueled speculation for a London-based sequel.
