Default From my "I bought a car

From my "I bought a car" thread..

JRV Said
"Honestly it's hard to call on the compression...had several knock down drag outs with veteran techs over "how to" do a proper comp. test only to conclude how few actually can perform a real and valid test and arrive at meaningful results."

The mechanic admitted that he did not get what he felt were "good readings" on the two cylinders which were low. After they replaced the clutch and WP, he reset all the carbs, and points on the rear bank, ran the test again and got readings withing 5-10lbs of each cylinder.

He also said since the tune up, WP, Clutch change and they've driven it a little that it's running great, pulls strong in all gears and he thinks I've got a great car. He said they went through everything so I'd have a good trip home and thinks we'll make it with no problems.

Damn, I can't wait. I pick it up tomorrow morning and start the drive home. My flight leaves in 3-1/2 hrs.

Awesome Sean!

Given you choice of car (early carb 308) I've been watching your search and acquisition with great interest. I'm very happy you've finally found the right car. Looks like patience does pay off after all! I think its great you went the no compromise way and held out for the car that was exactly right for you.

Have a safe and fun drive home!

Cheers

Sean, You lucky dog. I can relate to the excitement of going to pick up a Ferrari and driving it home. Be sure you have insurance on it! It would be a shame if anything happened to it.

Keep us posted!
