10 grand???????????? I bought a clutch for my TR last fall......will need one sometime this year.......I think the cost was about $1600-$1800, including through-out bearing.

The clutch can be installed without pulling the engine from the car......rather straight forward.

I would guess about $3000 from a dealer to do it.

A clutch for a TR for parts and labor should be around $2,500 to $2,800.

The only cars I know of that costs $10K for a clutch is a Lamborghini Countach and Diablo. Even then the cost is closer to $7K.

Bought my TR april 2005 and within 1 month and about 1K miles the clutch slipped under hard acceleration in 3/4th gears. Got home ok and pulled the clutch out. Half a day. Clutch from Maranello $4000 so visit to local clutch shop undertaken.. Didn't mention the F word and the guy studied the bits said "Land Rover?" The splines he then checked with LR shaft and yes it was the same and the plates and cover the same. so I had the cover rebuit with new fingers and a new diaphragm of the same strength as the original and the surfaces ground clean. (Not much grinding needed). The clutch was not badly worn really but the slave cylinder was almost siezed as the rubber seals were well perished. New seals from Maranello $20. Sorted ! The guy relind with original material but slightly thicker to take up what had been ground off the metal. I set up the clutch as per the shop manual using the original alloy spacer which increses the depth of clutch to accomodate the intermediate pressure plate and the extra clutch disc. No problems with this. Spacers made on lathe in cellar at home. Half a day to reassemble on car and total cost about $200, that's about £100 in real money! Any problems or queries please feel free to contact. I've covered about 10K miles since and no problems.
