Hi all. I am new to the Ferrari world. I am thinking about selling some of my restored BMW M cars and am considering buying an F355. I was originally thing of a berlinetta, but have noticed the values on converts. Does anyone have any feed back? Thanks in advance for the help.

I like the 355 also.
A compression test and leak down is critical as there have been reports of premature wear of the valve guides. Also the headers can crack and be an issue. Just have it checked and updated headers are supposedly better. After that you hear of issues with the back pressure valves on the exhaust so that has to be checked. I would think a 6 speed would be better than the first generation Ferrari paddle shift. I believe the high pressure pump for the F1 shift can be quite expensive. Regards, Drew Altemara |

I just bought my first Ferrari F355 Berlinetta 3 weeks ago - Fly yellow and black. The 355 is a beautiful sculpture and the B has nicer flowing roof line. It's probably one of the nicer models and will be a classic
IMHO. I would definitely stay with the 6 speed. To repair the electric/hydraulic conv. mechanism can also be very expensive on the Spider. Yeh, I get a tingle everytime I drive it - Go for it! Only a Ferrari can give you a woody! ![]() ![]() |

If value is important to you, a 1999 Spider with F1 is a better bet (Fiorano edition if possible). I've owned both, in 6 speed and F1, great rides regardless. The 355 is still my favorite 'F' car in terms of design.

Suggest you take a look at the F355 Buyers Guide. It can be downloaded from:
