Default F355 Check Engine Light

I have a 1995 F355. My check engine light 1/4 comes on and off Would any know the reason for this? Does it have anything to do with the ECU? is it worth buying the Ferrari Part #179278 (Cat Temp ECU Slowdown Engine Light). Sold on Ebay for $200. It is described as "a module that controls the "Check Engine" light which comes on if the Catalytic Converters are getting too hot.

Advice needed.

Thanks
Ben

The slow down light is the catalytic converter ECU malfunctioning and slowing down the car. If it's just a check engine light it's probably not the cat ECU. Maybe an oxygen sensor or a misfire. I don't know how long you've had it but sometimes it goes away.

First try resetting the ECUs by turning of the battery and restarting. If that does not work, simply swap over the air flow meters being that its a 95 model, and see if that cures it (i bet it just might). It sorted mine when i first got my car and have never had a problem again.

I just bought a 99 355 F1 it has 22k on it and was riding around last night forever looking for a parking space and my check engine light came on also. I flipped out cause the guy I bought from spent 15k on it before I bought it and thought I was good for a while. Do I have anything to worry about or is it just something small like above ?? The closest Ferrari dealer is 150 miles away and not in the finances right now for a large service call !!!
