Houston body shop needed

I need body shop recommendations in the Houston area to work on my 348 Spider. I took about a 3 by 6 inch chunk out of the front spoiler plus it dislodged the undertray piece. It wasn't that hard a hit, but there was a lot of cumulative damage.

So I'll also install skid plates while I'm at it. Any recommendations for those?

I found the FOH dealership bodyshop to be a really good experience- Steve there was great to deal with.

At one time i think JRV was making skid plates.

But if not him then Hill Engineering makes them.

I bought my skid plates from Ricambi America who is the US distributer for Hill Engineering and I am pleased with them.

Depends on what you want, shop wise.

I use smaller outfits due to costs...but I'm not super picky on finshes. It's only temporary until "next time'!

Agree that Foh has some space age stuff! Interesting cars always "around back", also....

And you're right, I'm afraid there will be a next time. I'm going to add skid plates, but the spoiler scrapes on everything!

I just wanted to let everybody know that I took the car to FoH and they did a great job. Fit and finish is perfect and Steve Egyed, the bodyshop manager, was a pleasure to work with. I also want to say that Farmers Insurance was suprisingly easy to work with. At first they balked at FoH's labor rates, but Tony Medick, the adjuster, got it approved after a day or so.

One other thing, I decided not to go with the skid plates. Sure they would protect the spoiler in the event of contact, but because they'd lower the front, it would end up scraping more often. We'll see.

Did you just now get your car back? It seems a little unreasonable for a simple spoiler repair/replacement to take four months. I hope that this was not the case. Why did Farmers balk at the labor rates? It seems like it would have been a simple repair job. I mean...Corvettes are fiberglass and are repaired faster than that... Just curious...

I would vote for quality skid plates any time. Cheap metal/plastic skid plates vs. expensive spoiler.....kind of a no brainer IMO....

WOW, in 4 Months Corvettes & Vipers build 40K + Entire Bodies out of Fiberglass and no telling how many Boats are built???? When I was a kid I used to build a Surf Board in a Day, start to finish for $40.00. Doesn't sound to impressive. How long does it take FoH to fix Carbon Fiber???......4-5 years??? Do they have to call NASA or Area 51 for help???

"Area 51" Spilled my morning coffee on the keyboard when I read that comment. Carbon fiber is not that much harder to fabricate parts than good old fiberglass. However, carbon fiber materials are very expensive due to the supply/ demand problem. Plus a shortage of people that have learned how to do this work.

Very true Bob. We are using carbon fiber for karting projects and it is expensive. And when you have no expereince working with it you can spend some money throwing away parts that did not turn out right But, that's racing.. LOL!!!
