Default My First Ferrari

Greetings from Canada. I am new to the forum having just purchased my first Ferrari, a 1982 308 Gtsi. For me this is really a dream come true as I have lusted after this marque for the better part of 25 years. I have had my share of motorcycles, muscle cars and Jeeps, but nothing comes close to saying the two most beautiful words in the english language...My Ferrari

Last week I picked up the car in St. Louis (after having the car checked out by an independent third party) and hauled it back to Canada, a 900 mile round trip. The car is Rosso Corsa Red with saddle interior. 50,500 miles on the car which is in very good condition from the paint ( a nice, few year old respray) with a nearly new interior that is flawless.

The previous owner was very meticulous with servicing and spent approximately $13 grand over the past three years on belts, clutch, water pump, valvetrain and other important items. Judging from the condition of the car and the maintenance records, he intended on keeping the car for a long while. The price I paid was very reasonable considering the condition of the car and the wholesaler I bought the car from probably didn't realize the gem that he had picked up at the auction.

I have put about 500 miles on the car and have had a permanent smile on my face since I did the deal. The only thing the car needed to pass an Ontario safety inspection was an outer tie rod end. No big deal considering the car is 26 years old. I had to also order a defrost control knob which was $58! I guess this rich little button top was my introduction to the world of Ferrari pricing!

Looking forward to participating in the Ferrari Talk community. I will likely be asking some questions in the near future.

Congratulations. In case you are interested, here is an article another Canadian owner wrote about buying his 1st Ferrari in the US and bringing it back to Canada:
