Default Well, I finally took out my Bo

Well, I finally took out my Boxer, after 4 months. I charged the battery, and it started right up. Went about 5 miles, and the car started to loose power.....backfired when I stepped on the gas, with no increase in speed. In 2 more miles, it got worse.......barely running.

I stopped at a gas station, stopped the engine, and had coffee.......was else could I do?

Tow truck finally came, and I couldn't start the car..........engine cranked. Now, I am back at home.

Can't drive my TR.......due to the major service. Can't drive my Boxer.......for whatever reason. It would seem only logical that I should now get a THIRD Ferrari!!!!!!!!!

Did you check the Fuel Pump Fuses?

It's not always something serious.

Default Thanks JRV: I will check it o

Thanks JRV: I will check it out this weekend. The condition got worse as I drove.......so I suspect more than just a fuse. If a fuse goes, I would expect an instant response. Do fuses go slowly??????????

Default Henryk, That sucks bad. It s

Henryk,
That sucks bad. It seems like you have the worst luck with that car. It sounds like maybe it started to flood as you were driving it. Maybe a needle and seat problem in the carbs, did you get a lot of black smoke? I don't really know anything about the boxers ignition, or set up you have, but maybe the ignition box, msd or coil(s) went.

Default JRV: I replaced both 16 Amp f

JRV: I replaced both 16 Amp fuses.......they where corroded. The left appeared blown, and the right one broke on removal......can't say if it was blown or not. I did crank over the car, with both fuses out, and it cranked just like before......hence, I am assuming no fuel. After replacing with good fuses, the car did start, but it doesn't quite sound right. I let it run for a few minutes, and noticed that the left fuse is very hot, while the right one is only warm.

I feel that one of the fuel pumps is not working properly.......unable to use the lift at this time to check them out.

Comments?

Default Hi Henry, replace the littl

Hi Henry,

replace the little fuse block and cut off the wire ends and solder on new terminals. Always has been alot of draw thru the fuses. Some of the large Gold Stereo Fuses would likely be a good upgrade if there is room between the other blocks, don't think there is though.

To check if both pumps are working just unplug the FP's safety switch on the R/S FD, then turn the key just on...the pumps will then run continuously. You can either reach underneath and feel them with your hand or crack a feed line on each FD for pressure.

Default I hope to have the lift availa

I hope to have the lift available this weekend. I will replace end terminals, etc., as you suggest, JRV.

Coach: I do recall what you went through......WOW!!!! I will switch the relays, as you suggest, and see what happens. I will do this shortly.

BTW: I just ordered 3 fuel pumps; 2 for the Boxer, and 1 for the TR........just in case!!!!!!!
