In September, I got to drive 19 cars worth about $7 million in four countries. I was so impressed with the Porsche GT3 I just bought a 997 Turbo and it would eat a Scuderia and hold off a 599 (and it handles FAR better than a 599 with the V12's weight in the front). In 1997, the guy who purchased my 550 new paid $200K. Ten years later, the guy who bought my 997 new paid $140K. The fit, finish, features and performance of the 997 wins flat down. In four years, I have driven the 550 to a total of 57,000 miles and it now had $35K value at wholesale. I'll keep it, drive it 2-4,000 miles a year (the 997 will become the 10K/year car) and I don't really care if I ever own another Ferrari. I might get a Maserati GT-S someday. That was another car I got to drive during September. I just wish it had been a GT-S with ceramic brakes and stiffer suspension. It's a great GT. All the videos and so forth are at WYO550.COM

Then why are you on this website?

I preffar a Ferrari, as they are more of a chick magnet!!!!
No, a dog is a chick magnet. The 997 also gets more looks than the 550, the cops are easier on it than the Ferrari and only about 1/2,000 tries to kill you driving it- compared to 1/1000 in the 550. In both cars I have fulltime dashboard video for follow-you-home scum and attempted highway killers (those who cross double yellows to appear to be a head on accident coming your way or who change lanes in front of you and then hit the brakes, etc).
i just sold my 997 gt3... i used it only for track. it was fitted witha a coplete fabspeed exhaust, hoosier tires racing toe links etc. its an out of the box animal and great car, especially for the track and especially if you know how to drive.....Having said that its not a ferrari... at least not a 430 scuderia which is another animal which i also own. The ferrari also costs 3 times more!!! i sold my 997 and replaced it with a 360 challenge for the track... two totally different cars and 7 years of technology difference.
I've had a 997 turbo, and they are great cars. Fast, handle great... but its no ferrari. A 360 will get you much more pleasure. Porsches have no passion, they are dead like all german cars. They are built good, yes... they perform well... but they don't have the noise and the hand built feel of a ferrari. And the F430 is a much better driving car then a 977, trust me I driven both back to back.
To each his own! "The noise, the hand built feel, the passion."
I don't know anything about that, as this video will show: http://www.laserradio.com/grazie.wmv
Let's see, I've driven GT3 and GT2- back to back with Spykers, Ferrari 430 and Scuderia, two Lamborghinis, two Bentleys, a Corvette and a GT40 over three days...and I was so impressed with the GT 3 that I went and bought a 997 TT for multiple reasons: Cost, serviceability and the emotional high that I get driving it at 8-10,000 ft in Wyoming-compared to anything! The 997TT can do 130mph up a 7% grade at 10,000ft with energy to spare! The only Ferrari that out-drives the 997 is the Scuderia and even it doesn't provide the sheer kick in the pants joy of the 997, which costs less than HALF of the Scud. The only Ferrari that can out-run the 997 at the high end is the 599 and after driving one in Monaco and Italy I'm so happy I don't own one of those over-engineered cars! The Porsche is simply a better car for the money and I'll bet the upcoming 998 TT out-performs the entire Ferrari line. I'm so fed up with the pretentiousness of Ferrari, with the stinking "official video" for the California showing two male models "racing" side-by-side on state highways in a car that isn't as good as an AMG Benz...and Ferrari North America's president telling the Wall Street Journal that Ferrari owners have "real money". I'd rather have a Maserati GT than the California and I now don't have any interest in EVER owning a new Ferrari. My 550 is the first in the world with a tuned exhaust system and I'll just drive the 997 and take the 550 to the usual silly "club drives"- although it's a more comfortable 400 mile cruiser than the 997. I can't wait to be on Laguna Seca August 17 in the 997, twisting off of turn 8 into the corkscrew with AWD and turbo overboost...braking into the Rainey Corner with the ceramic brakes and then boosting down to turn 10!
My 2007 997 is now for sale: 28,600 miles, new tires AND spare set of Michelin PS-2
$89,500 and will be available for viewing and test driving at Porsche, Fort Collins, CO
I've now test driven the Ferrari California and plan to order a new 2010 Porsche Turbo with PDK transmission IF the seamless nature of the Ferrari transmission is not evident.
I think the Italia has a problem: The same transmission as the California. Driving the California was like driving an electric car. The only way you really knew the car had shifted was the sound of the way-cool exhaust!
My suggestion to Ferrari and Porsche: Start Software customization for customers.
You don't like a 60 millisecond California Getrag transmission shift pattern? How about 120milliseconds?
Like that Lambo slap-gear brutality out of the same ZF transmission that's in an F430?
Ferrari will re-program your F430 to be like the Lambo?
Am I the first person to suggest software modification as a factory option?
Ah, now we know why you posted here on Ferrari-Talk...it's "for sale!"
No thanks! I'd rather have my Ferrari, besides you weren't convincing me anyway. Everyone knows the 360 CS numbers are the same as the GT3 RS, and of course only ONE is a F E R R A R I

Gee, since I really care what you think, I'll agree with you! You're right, I started posting about the 997 TT's superiority in March because I'm selling the car in September (so I can buy the new, 500hp/520ftlbs, 997TT- fora fraction of a Ferrari's price- that's being unveiled at Frankfurt Auto Show in a week). Gee, can I keep my 550, the most powerful one in the world with the first prototyped tuned exhaust system from Hyperflow? I really want to be invited to the next Enzo birthday party at the clubhouse. I have a red shirt. OK? Still friends? Golly you're smart!
