Default Site upgrade, problems and additions for the future...

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself on the site here. I've been an automobile fan since I was a little kid and my job for the past 6 years has blessed me with the ability to work in that field.

I've owned many vehicles in my time but have not yet had the pleasure of owning a Ferrari... tho I hope to be able to afford one some day

My name is John G. and I'll be doing some of the site maintenance, upgrades, feature additions, etc. to try and get this website moving forward again.

The software that we had in use here was very old and was no longer supported by the company that created it. We went with a software package that we have experience with and ran a conversion. Unfortunately the conversion is not perfect and you'll notice that previous posts have your names associated with them, but do not link to your profile nor do they give you credit on your post counts. This is an unfortunate downside but we hope that the new software will keep us future proof and will let us grow.

Many of you may have a hard time logging on as the software also was not able to read the password you had stored in the old software. We've added a box near the top that contains important links to help you reset your password.. the links are:

Lost Password Reset

If your email address has changed, or you are unable to reset your password, please contact us at forumsupport@ferrari-talk.com and we will try to assist you in the process.

Other then the above problems everything should be smooth sailing.

If you have any ideas or suggestions on how to improve the site, we are open to input! We've added some features which are highlighted in the welcome post on the front page here: Welcome to Ferrari-Talk.com - A Ferrari Forum

In addition to myself, we will be bringing on a couple more members to assist as well. El Calor (Doug S.) and Dascrow (Dan K.) will be joining us on the site shortly.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Wow talk about a major change!! This is ground-breaking.

To be honest, I've always thought this was a great site that was being held back by archaic software... its nice to see F-Talk come of age

I think we have a really good opportunity to compete with F-Chat, but with more technical Ferarri-owner discussions.... rather than gawkers, and droolers, and 17-year old dreamers.

Cheers to Ferrari-Talk and a bright future ahead. I'll be on this site a lot more now, and definetly posting

I'm wondering if we might get any decals to put on my 360 Modena???

Hell everyone! My name is Doug and I'll be working alongside of John (ekool) and Dascrow (Dan) here at Ferrari-Talk.com.

Like John said, we are not Ferrari owners (yet), but we are true car enthusiasts and we are working hard to make those dreams become a reality I currently own a Black 2002 Z06 that dynoed at 430 rwhp and my daily driver is a Black 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. No Ferrari's, but definitely fun to drive!

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to post in this thread or send us a PM!

Cheers

-Doug

OK guys lets see if this takes off. I visit both sites and my major involvement is in technical topics. I've got 47 years of working on various foreign type autos so anything I can do to share and learn my knowledge will be done. Good luck and lets go. Enjoy the ride

Yep would be good if it took of this time round. New beginning maybe. A lot less dick heads than F.chat maybe, and definitely no bloody Politics & religion section on this site(evil place full of self opinionated wankers). Lets keep it about the Marque IMO.

I am happy to see this change. Ftalk site looks great. Doug and John can you give me a little history of what has happened to Ftalk since the passing of JRV (a great man by the way we had many technical discussions.)

To be honest since the website was so old no one here wanted to upgrade it for fear of breaking it completely. We knew at the very least people would have to reset passwords and figured there may be a few other things broken as well, so the site remained the same until we decided to undertake the project.

I always believed that Ferrari-Talk.com should be as beautiful as the cars that Ferrari put out so took it upon myself to try and improve upon the site.

I wish I could give you more details but there has not really been a whole lot going on with regards to Ferrari-Talk.com until now.
