I got tired of working on the Boxer distributor and plugging 12 leads into the cap for the umteenth time. So I sat down and wrote out a proceedure to trouble shoot pop up headlight problems that I have had and that I have seen discussed on this site.

JRV, I posted this in the technical articles section if OK with you.

Well, maybe I'm missing something.

By your question are you telling me that I have enough room to remove the entire distributor assembly with the cap and wires attached to rotate the rotor a notch.

OR

Do you think that there is enough room to remove the cap with wires in place, remove the distributor base and rotate the rotor a notch?

Anyhow glad to contribute.

Drew

Hi Drew,

yes you should have enough room to pull the cap, ease it out of the way, usually one wire or two at most might pop out. Then you have plenty of room to pull the distrib and rotate at will and replace. Leave the bottom nut off and tighten very lightly two of the cap screws, gently snug distrib base and start engine to check timing. Once timing is dead on, THEN you carefully go back and replace all nuts & washers and tighten the cap all the way.

Regards, JRV

Default Well, I'll give it a shot.

Well, I'll give it a shot. Seems pretty tight. But if it helps not to undo/do all the plug wires it will help my fingers, back and attitude.

Thanks,

Drew
