1985 Ferrari 308 GTSI QV Blowing Smoke

I have a 1985 308QV with 35,000 miles. The timing belt was changed 800 miles ago. I was out for a 15 mile ride. At the end of the ride I jumped on the highway. I was doing about 50 mph in 3rd gear at about 6K rmp when a BIG cloud of smoke came from the engine compartment. I was about 1.5 miles from home so I just drove it into the garage. It seems to be running ok, but not sure what caused the problem. Any ideas? Mark

I'd check for coolant loss first and foremost, sounds like a hose elt go.
