2002 360 spider f1

Recently bought a 360 spider f1 and the check engine light came on shortly after driving it off the lot. The code i keep getting is PO431 (catalyst efficiency). I've been told it's the precat that is failing. A new header for the car non aftermarket cost close to $6000. Can I buy a new set of racing headers and make the check engine light go away and still pass smog? or is my only option going with the stock header? any input would be nice thank you all for your time.

Get it to someone who can do a proper diagnosis before shelling out for a pre-cat. You could have a failing oxygen sensor or a leaky manifold gasket. Unsure on the smog law question as i only really work on euro-spec cars.
