to get the axle out the bottom strut assembly must be unbolted from the spindle and upper 'A' arm to allow for enough movement to swing the assy out. the nuts on the CV joints are 'captive' so DO NOT turn them, the bolts are removed with a 6mm allen. a socket allen works best and if you've got an impact gun that helps 'free' them loose with out having to hold the rotor, although a large screwdriver in the rotor will hold it still to use a breaker bar to get the bolts loose.

pelican sells new CV joints for less than $100 each. they are used on the 911 as well, I'd have to dig up the cross reference. porsche also used a backing plate to keep the CV grease contained in the joint, it would work on the inboard side, makes life cleaner when dealing with the diff.

SMG Thanks ,: Got it,

The axle came out without loosening the upper A.

I had to heat the bolts to get them to break free.

Thanks again.
