Default You guys are right my oil on t

You guys are right my oil on the exhaust isn't from the pan. I did some cleaning and probing around. It seems it is comming from where the axles go into the tranny. I dont think it is comming from the axle boot beccase they are tight and not torn. Besides if it were from the axle boot wouldnt the grease be real heavy and thick? This isn't grease on the exhaust its oil. So i think it could be the seal where the axles go into the tranny. Does this seam right? If i have to replace that seal is it as simple as taking the axle off and replacing the seal or do i have to take the tranny case apart?

Default okay i'll help as best as

okay i'll help as best as i can.
the axel seals are located in the flanges that pull out of the diff case. to get at them you first have to remove the half-shafts & cv joints. once they are out of the way you'll notice a 19mm nut inside the output flange. unbolt this from the output shaft and slide out, using a pick remove the old seal. now for the flange it is held in by a bolt and a tab located washer. the bolt will need an application of silcone to seal against oil leaking past the threads. i used a high temp silcone however i now have a leak again so eithier i didn't cover it right or the blasted red-line is far to thin to be using in the tranny. t-rutlands has an updated double lip viton seal that should work better than the original.
i'll be re-doing the cv joints so i'll re-address the axel seal and take pics for future refference.

so far this is my biggest gripe with the car, i can take a leak that might need topping off. but smoking tranny fluid is bad.
