308 Drive Bearings what do they sound like when bad

I have a strange noise on the pass. side rear of my 85' QV. It sounds like an alternator bearing going. What does a cam belt drive bearing sound like when it is going? Is it common on QVs? I just changed the t-belts and tensioner bearings 4 months ago and they had no play in them when the belts were off and they are not leaking oil.
Is the best way to diagnose them to listen with a stethoscope? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

yes definately!

W/P bearings are a common priblem.

Found it!!!! It is the bearings in the water pump tensioner pulley. They spin ok but make a not so nice sound. Thanks.
