308 Fuel filler hose replacement
I decided to go do my fuel neck filler hose today and it took about 3 hrs. I had to slit the old hose to get it out. Once that was done I worked the neck out of the large rubber grommet. While in there I noticed this nipple that comes from the fuel filler area. This is the overflow in case you spill gas outside of the fill tube. I noticed that mine was plugged with crap so if I would have spilled gas it would run out over the body. Also this little nipple did not have a drain hose attached. Next there are 2 hoses coming off of the top filler neck. One is an overflow that runs out of the car and the other runs to a larger pipe that goes to the other tank. I look in my parts book and on the small hose it just shows it running down the tank with a rubber overflow hose. Parts book is a 75-76. On my 77 there is a check valve in this hose. That too was not operating. Based on how it was located it appears that it will let overfill fuel out and will not let air in or if pressure builds up in the tank it will vent. So these hoses will get replaced also. Attached are the pic's showing the old hose and the new one mounted. Not to bad of a job.
