Default I HAVE A 1979 308 GT4, IT SEEM

I HAVE A 1979 308 GT4, IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE MOTOR IS SLOW TO REV UP BUT NOT BAD, THE PROBLEM THAT I DO HAVE IS THAT WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, THE MOTOR TAKES A LONG TIME TO SLOW ITS SPEED, EVERY TIME I SHIFT TO THE NEXT GEAR, THERE IS ALMOS NO CHANGE IN THE ENGINE SPEED.

IF ANY BODY HAS ANY ADVICE, IT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Default IME this means the idle speed

IME this means the idle speed screws are turned into far. Even though your car may idle at 1000rpm or so they are still turned in too far. When I had this issue for a brief period I realized some of my cylinders were lean and backed out the idle mixture screws and richen the mixture on the various cylinders. The idle went up and then I backed off the idle speed screws(one on the front and one on the back bank of carbs) on both banks equally and that solved it.

Default I had the same problem on my G

I had the same problem on my GT4 with the idle "sticking" on shifts. After some research I put in new idle jets (55's) and all is well. Don't ask me how, but it worked. That same has helped others as well.

Default Pull one of your idle jets to

Pull one of your idle jets to see what size it is. Mine were 45's and when I increased the size to 55, the "sticking" idle went away.
