My 308 starts and runs for anout 3 seconds and then quits. I've checked the fuel pump and the pressure and both were fine. The accumulator seemed fine. Power to the pump was fine. does anyone have any ideas? (could it be the warm up regulator?)Thanks

Dave,
I presume from your description of the problem...is that you can't keep the car running longer than a few seconds. The first thing I would check is the saftey switch on the fuel distributor housing. The purpose of the switch is to turn off the fuel pump, if the car were to stall. So...if this switch were to malfuntion, the car will only run very briefly. The plug for the switch is usually blue....and it on the side the fuel distributor/air sensor housing. Disconnect the plug....and make a small jumper to connect the two pins together on the harness side. With the key on....you should hear the fuel pump running. Give this a try... Regards, David |

Thanks everyone. I jumped the blue connection on the fuel distributor and yes the fuel pump runs continuously. What may have caused the problem? What settings for the CO would be a good starting point? 7000ft elevation. By the way I live in Santa Fe NM if you know of a good mechanic.

I'll check the starter relay and the by pass resistor. Even with the fuel pump running it only runs for a few seconds. I did find that there are some connections in the fuse block that are not making a good connection or not at all. I'll try to fix one thing at a time I guess. Thanks

Dave,
pull the air cleaner off and try something. Have someone start the engine and immediately while it's still running put slight finger pressure on the Air Flow Plate keeping it slightly depressed and off of the safety switch contact and see it it continues to run (even poorly). If it does you can try to alter starting mixture (to the rich side) with the CO Setting Screw Inside the FD Housing. If this allows the engine to start and run then check the Fuel System Pressures to gather some WUR values. |

JRV,
I tried your suggestion and it died as just before, except this time it will not start at all. It has spak and there seems to be fuel at the distributor(fuel)? If it has fuel, spark and compression, it should run? Thanks |
