Default I completed my 60k service yes

I completed my 60k service yesterday and fired my baby up. Once the air was purged from the fuel lines she fired up and idled at about 1000 RPM. I then noticed some smoke in the cabin after about 4-5 minutes. I shut her off and felt the fuel pump fuse (not on the fuse block. Previous owner jumpered around the fuse block with a modern blade fuse). It was super hot!! I am thinking that the fuel pump may have partially frozen after sitting for two months. Does this sound probable, or is there something else I can check?

Thank you,

JL

Normally mine either works or it doesn't!

But definately sounds as though yours has gone bad, if the circuit is overheating! Like a partner, these cars make you PAY for leaving them alone......."partially frozen" is not really accurate if it's still pumping fuel, but it sounds like it's going bad and drawing too much current......

Thanks Alan. That's kind of what I thought after talking with a couple of my "electrically savy" friends. Oh well!! One more project to do...

Default I just had my 60K on an '8

I just had my 60K on an '83QV done last month.
Prior, the relay always was very hot to the touch and the fuse had that hot blue/black color on the contact fingers. There was also a hot-start problem. Turns out the fuel pump pressure was low as an intermitent problem....especially when it was warm.

New fuel pump, problem(s) solved.
