I now have the new belts on the car, thanks to JR for coming over last night and burning the midnight oil. Watching the "magician" at work really was a treat. I learned what "dead nuts on" really is when ligning up the cams, using an in/lb torque wrench to tighten the cam caps, etc.. I have also discovered during this whole process that there is so much "feel" that goes into doing this job correctly. That "feel" is truely the art of the craft and I feel fortunate that I was able to watch, learn, and participate. Thank you JR for your time, effort, and expertise. This "little" 308 will be screaming when we get back on the road.
Looking good Jeremy, I hope you are on the road soon.
BTW, please slap whoever "rattle canned" your intake manifold...I hope it wasn't you. It will take some work, but I think you can clean that overspray mess up. ;)
It is really cool stuff isn't it???? I still have a LOT to learn, but I am enjoying the ride so far.
Dave,
The PO did the half ass rattle can job on the intake. I am going to wrinkle paint it after our horse show/exotic show on March 26th. I wanted to do it all to match the valve covers while I had everything out of the way but it shouldn't be that bad since it's on top.
I got a lot done this weekend. The A/C is back on, along with the water pump and alternator. The valve covers were installed last night. That doesn't leave too much left to do. I have new plug wires in the mail and should be back on the road this weekend. Oh, and thank you JR for loaning me the "special" Ferrari tool to re-torque the head bolts.
