308 QV Valve Job
I purchased a 1985 308 QV GTS with 26K-mi a few months back where the motor was in jigsaw-puzzle condition. It had been torn apart, then abandoned & I am sorting out all the issues with the help of many helpful people in the Ferrari community.
With the piston & cylinder problems addressed, I have turned my focus to the heads where I have several leaking valves. A couple of them look bent to the point where they can pass light through them, and others look fine, but passed air when pressurized with shop air during a leakdown test. The questions I have are:
--If the leakage is small, should I try the standard procedure of lapping the vavles with compound to re-seat them?
--It appears that the valve guide seals need a special tool to change out, does anyone know where to get this tool and if they should all be replaced for good measure?
--Does anyone know a good source to buy replacement valves, guides, and seals and what are the best type if it is determined that replacment is the way to go?
--Lastly, does anyone know a good machine shop in the New England (NH or MA preferably) who you would recommend for rebuilding heads?
Many thanks in advance.
