At idle, my '78 308GTB has no oil pressure. When "at full chat," however,(over, say, 1500 RPM, or so), my guage indicates on-or-about 40. Opinions? (It's noteworthy that my car has about 48,000 miles on it.) Regards, -Joe
Those readings are way too low. Min pressure (per the manual) at driving RPM is 65psi. My engines has about 40 psi @ idle; 65 psi and up when driving and @ about 200F. I'd get it checked ASAP and pray its just the sender unit or check valve. And I'd also take it pretty easy until it was checked out.
Low oil pressure, might be just an indication of some other lingering problem and can cause some major problem. So better get it checked and repaired as early as possible.
