Jeremy,
I don't know how different the QV is from the GTSi, but the 1981 wiring diagram I have shows one beige wire coming from the fuse box to the relay (looks like the one your fuse holder is hooked into), and another beige wire going directly from the relay to the fuel pump. That same circuit also powers the Auxiliary Air Valve and the Warm Up Regulator. It appears to be the same setup on the 328 with a beige wire coming from the relay to the fuel pump as well as the WUR and AAV. Since your fuel pump wire is black, I bet it is spliced somewhere along the way into the original beige wire. |

This morning I started tracing the beige wire back to the AAV and WUR. The WUR looked fine. Then I made my way to the AAV. This is what I found:
So the problem has been traced back to the AAV, or the AAV wiring. I must now determine if the AAV has gone south or not. The OHM reading for the AAV is 21.3 on the 200 scale. Does anyone have the OHM reading for a good AAV? OHM reading: AAV photo: ![]() |

I found HenryK's post about checking the AAV:
http://www.ferrari-talk.com/discus/m...tml?1082000681 In the oven the valve closes and in the freezer it opens up. So the AAV does appear to function normally. My only concern now is the OHM reading. I will be running some new wire for the AAV and replacing the plug. We are getting closer to being back on the road. JL |

Hi Jeremy,
Kudos for your perserverence!!You are now Initiated Into The Italian Wiring Problems Honorary Tracking Society!!!! The only ohms specs I could find are from one of my Lambo WSM's... on the 2K ohms scale a normal reading of 15-18 is normal (OTWKA new). Other cars may vary slighty! |

Also:
doing a google search, an interesting note from our Alpha Romeo brothers: http://www.alfaclub.org/techstff/boschfr1.htm#notes Specifically point 3: NOTES - Auxiliary Air Valve Pinch hose from auxiliary air valve to plenum. When cold, the engine speed must decrease when the hose is pinched. When the engine is at operating temperature, pinch hose and the speed must not change. Make sure that too much current from the auxilairy air valve heater is not causing fuel pump relay to burn out. ps: or Fuel Pump Fuse ![]() |
