I just purchased a 91 348 tb and it will be due for a major service next year. Does anyone have a step by step for removing the engine. I figure it will take me the next year to get the courage to pull the engine out TIA

Frank,
That's a great question...
The factory manual is very specific on this issue and states simply "Remove engine"!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I'm sure someone out there will have a better answer for you.

Congrats on your new purchase.

Regards,
David

Hi Frank,

I suppose one of us could write an outline of engine removal. These types of questions are hard to answer in detail, as so many obvious steps are involved and there really is no 1 actual procedure/way of removing/replacing the engine-trans unit.

As the basics are identical to the TR's maybe one of the guys recently completeing these tasks will help out also.

I guess one important question is will you be using a hoist or not? Also, what type of engine stand will you use to set the unit on for removal?

Regards, JRV

Default Frank: While removing the e

Frank:

While removing the engine is reletively easy...it is still a bit of a pain. When I took mine out I basically followed:

1- Drain all the fluids
2- Disconnect oil lines, brake lines, water lines, electrical connections, etc
3- Remove mounting bolts and drop the sub frame...then the fun begins!
