Hi, I'm thinking to buy a 348ts. But many people told me about a lot of problems related to engine, clutch, etc. on this model. I like it very much and it's not too much expensive to Buy, but I don't want to empty my bank account to repair it! Someone can give me some information about? Thank you!

You might find this link helpful:
http://www.ferrariclub.com/faq/348versions.html Like any Ferrari, later in the series is better. Later 348's have single disc clutches, versus the twin disc, updated engine management, updated (larger) alternator and related wiring harnes...etc. A 92 or 93 would be preferrable to a 89 or 90. Any Ferrari can take your breath away in repair bills, so if you are very averse to expensive bills, then a Ferrari may not be for you.... ![]() |

Thank you Jrv, Thank you Davehanda.
In effect, the car I'm thinking to buy is a 1992 model. Just have 19.000Km on, and it's sold by an official Ferrari dealer. It means that he will give me the car with all the services made: new belts, oil, filters and tyres. I hope he will give me also a warranty. The price will be 46.000Euro. What do you think? |

Hi Alessio,
personally I think an unabused 92 is a good choice. Don't keep up with euro vs $ but what, that's about $50K, give or take...? Right in the ballpark for a nice no issues 348 imo. On the service end of the game, I highly reccomend having a nice thourough, comprehensive going thru of the engine and all it's various components & subsystems while the engine is out. You should definately search the archives here for the many articles I've written on the issues that occur as these cars mature. Even though these older cars can have quite a laundry list of problems, most everything can be addressed in one comprehensive upgrading and thourough service if done by the right personell. Regards, JRV |
