I have a 2003 360 Spider with 8800 miles, serviced very recently, my check engine light is on, I checked the oil and the hydraulic steering fluids topped everything off and the light is still on..Any ideas guys. Thanks in advance!

You need to read the error codes to have an idea of what is causing the ECU to turn on the check engine light. If your car has had the free Ferrari service campaign to fix the issue that kept many readers from working, then you can read the code yourself with a OBDII scanner. These are available at auto parts store and some are relatively cheap ($50.00 or less). Trivial to use.

As K4site said, if the gas cap was not screwed in correctly then the tank pressure system sent out this mulfunction message. If this is true, you can switch off the battery for 5 minuts and then on again to cancel the Check engine light. You will have to turn on Ignition switch for 30 seconds before starting the engine to do a self learn of the throttle then start the engine and let it idle for 10 minuts before driving.

Resetting the battery will clear the codes, but check what the codes are first before doing so. If it is something trivial then go ahead and erase the codes as described. All codes are related to emission systems, some are more important than others.

I've had the Check Engine lamp a couple times now. Although the loose gas cap is an easy check, my dealer found a Grounding recall that seemed to work for a couple weeks. When lamp came back on, stopped by to have him check it and he reports it may be a minor vacuum problem w/ fuel adjustment trying to either enriched or lean the mix. He feels it's ok to drive for now till he can look at it next month.
That said, I've noticed that sometimes on first start if engine is not smooth, I'll immediately turn off, wait 5-10 seconds, the it restarts smoothly (this happens about 1 out of 3 times when cold). Don't know if others experience this or not.

Have the right and left air intake sensor checked ! The ECU will report this problem if at fault.

buy the can obd with extrenal power suplly you do not need the ferrari sd-2 or sd-3 in order to pull the fault codes from engine or transmission.Any car sold in usa after 1996. not only the ferrari but all the cars sold in usa after 1996 must complay withe obd II for smog test. ferrari delar is not going to tell you this couse thay want your $$$$$$$$$$.
