Hi..........
The Ferrari factory workshop/repair manual for the Boxer series indicates settings for the front suspension: camber of +0 degrees 30' to +0 degrees 50'; camber 3.4 to 6 millimeters at shims; toe-in of 1 to 3 millimeters; king-pin inclination of 9 degrees and caster angle of 4 degrees. The king-pin inclination is not adjustable, but deviations indicate damage to ball joint. For the rear suspension: camber of -1 degree 30' to -1 degree 50'; camber 10.1 to 12.3 millimeters at shims; toe-in of 2 to 4 millimeters via spacer shims. The toe-in should be adjusted with "vehicle under static laod and 20 kilograms of baggage". These data are from the English translation version of the Boxer manual by Angelo Wallace [ISBN 0-9606804-7-0]. As for tire pressures, check out the attachment. No numbers for the BBi with TRX tires. Pressures should be set to match your driving style. Good luck !! Frank......... www.masiarz.net/bb_resource <center><table border=1><tr><td> BBPress.xls (16.4 k)</td></tr></table></center> |

Thanks Gents...
The reason for all these questions and request for specs is straight forward: I'm still working on dialing in the suspension on my BB. Although the sheer cornering power is there, I really don't (still) care for the way the car feels...and was curious as to the specs, and changes Ferrari made through the years. I find it very, very interesting that they: a) Reduced front toe-in (better turn-in) b) Decreased slightly front positive camber (less understeer) c) Increased rear toe-in (better rear end stability) So far, I've already made these changes....without knowing what Ferrai had done. Looks like a bit more work adjusting the tire pressures to get the "feel" more comfortable. It does seem odd that Ferrari reduced the caster angle from 4+ to 3 degrees on the later cars. Seems that would make the steering even more numb?? Regards, David |
