I took delivery of a 1997 Maranello last month and have had the hardest time getting the parking brake light to go out. Simply clicking the button on the brake handle and releasing it never works. And raising and lowering it repeatedly appears to be making the problem worse. Can anyone please advise me on how to adjust the brake cables or something else to alleviate this (or do I need to take it to a Ferrari dealer for repair)? Thanks, John

Hey Johnny
When you are releasing the parking break try this. Push the button in and hold it. Then pull up on the handle while continuing to hold the button in. Lower the handle all the way down, realeasing the tention on the parking break, then let go of the button afte the handle is down. It could be that you aren't lowering the handle all the way before you let go of the button. |

Thanks to JRV and Ernie for your input. From now on, I'll focus on keeping the darn button depressed, up-and-down, all the way to the floor. I've now noticed that pressing the button harder when the lever is at the floor seems to disengage the parking light. My biggest concern, naturally, was that somehow the cable tension was still taunt-- despite my having released the lever. And there is also the additional worry (if I read the owners manual correctly) that the computer will also display "park" when something else is wrong.
I love this car and don't want to "screw the pooch" out of ignorance. Thanks guys for your postings! John |
