88 308 Mondial Ignition Problems

Working On A 308 Mondial That Came In With A Leaking Clutch Slave Cyl. Owner Claims Car Ran Fine Before He Had Clutch Problem. Car Would Not Start. Replaced Fouled Sparkplugs And Car Started For A Few Seconds Then Died. Car Has Spark At #4 And #3 On Rear Bank, #1 And #2 On Front Bank. Checked Caps And Wires-everything Ok. Not Sure Which Flywheel Sensors Do What. Any Ideas Would Be Appreciated.

Pull the two sensors out and check they aren't covered in crap. This can sometimes cause poor staring. You can trace the harness back round from the rear of the engine to the ECU's under the left hand rear arch, removing the arch liner to acess them. Check all the connections and pay attention to the earthing point which can be subject to corrosion.
