Hi,

What exactly does the thermostat knob control on a 308s A/C system? Is it electrically controlling the rate at which the expansion valve receives refrigerant or does it control the rate/duration of the compressor cycle?

Thank You,

Anthony

Default The knob is a Capillary tube t

The knob is a Capillary tube that runs into the evaporator to monitor Temperature, to keep the expansion valve from icing up, and thus plugging the system, leading to excessive high side pressure and possible system damage! Don't know about other climates, but here in the South, unless there is alot of moisture in the systen an expansion valve has little chance of freezing.
