My 85 308QV came with an Avital Tornado alarm system. It is acting up at the moment and I have no idea how to bypass it, or go about troubleshooting it. The key clickers are not disarming the alarm at all so the only thing I can do is open the doors and set it off. I can't even start her up. Anyone have any experience with alarm systems?

Jeremy,

alarms can cause ALOT of problems.

Make sure the batteries in the remotes are fresh.

Then if that doesn't work try disconnecting the alarm from the car battery.

I bought new batteries for the clickers today thinking that was the problem. I have found the wiring diagram for the alarm on the net and that has helped me identify some of the wires and components. I have disconnected the battery with no luck, and will disconnect the alarm from the battery and see if that helps.

Well, I tried disconnecting the alarm from the battery. No luck. Maybe I should just take her down to Mobile One and have them install a new alarm and be done with it. Or have them remove the alarm altogether? Just kidding in case my insurance agent is monitoring the site.
