Default Anybody successful in keep O2 codes clear?

My 550 was the first to have cats and x-pipe from hyperflow. I did the engineering test and evaluation of the prototypes. Since this modifcation- without surprise- the "check engine" codes have been "an issue" in regards to the O2 sensors in the cats. What's weird is that I'll get 300 miles on the car- after the failure codes are cleared- before the "Check" light comes on...again. We clear it. I drive hundreds of miles and then "Check" comes back on.

Unfortunately, the 550's ECU-upon "Check"- apparently defaults to a leaner fuel mixture.
And I feel it instantly: 8-12% lower throttle response and up to 15_20% slower response to acceleration (all of it varies due to speed, torque/rpm, etc).

Has anybody experienced problems like this with ANY model Ferrari (perhaps after changing something as mundane as the silencers- let alone with straight pipies or new cats)? And what can be done to keep the O2 sensor from tripping the ECU in the first place?

I'm assuming that whatever software protocols Ferrari developed for any car it manufactured from 1985-1995 would have the same software features. So, what worked (for you in bypassing or causing the ECU to ignore the cat O2 sensor) on one car (yours) might also work on my 550.
Thanks
John

Hey Wyo, Do you have O2 sensors both in front of the cats and after the cats? Did you move the location of the O2 sensors (from the exact stock location ). If so, which sensors are setting the code? before or after the cats. The sensors after the cats if moved downstream may be taking to long to get to temp. Need to know which set of sensors are setting the codes. Also, as I told you about getting a tune,,,, you might be running rich and setting a code. We have tricked the O2 sensors with an extension (antifoulers) on the sensor thread to move it out of the pipe so it picks up a smaller sample of exhaust gas if you are running a tad rich. Its an old "ricer trick" usually required after a header install. Just some thoughts,, let me know what "yall" think.

another option is the O2 simulators that keep the ECU from seeing an out of spec signal and thus adjusting the fuel trim. the lack of cats has the secondary O2's reading a rich mixture so the fuel is trimmed to avoid cat meltdown. a simulator will send a 'dummy' signal to the ECU making it think the cats are there and functioning. now this is great as long as the ECU doesn't have the ability to run self checks and test the O2. BMW started this around 2000 model year.

Thanks guys. I'm trying to get a copy of the codes from my local dealer, so it's clear what the Motronic "Self learning" capability has done with the O2 data it's getting from the Hyperflow cats. I'll show both your suggestions to the mechanics who try to solve the issue. Thanks again. John
