Default JRV: I am about to install th

JRV: I am about to install the bell housing. My question is: Can I use grease to pre-lube the large roller bearings supporting the clutch shaft, etc.? Normally I would use the trans oil, however, it will be a while before I can finish the installation completely.....this is due to the fact that I will have to machine the proper sockets to tighten the ring nuts.

BTW: I used 1/4 inch bolts to secure the fork shaft......I placed the nuts on the opposite side of the shaft........don't need to grind anything.

Thanks for the info on the flywheel toque.

Also, while typing this, the cursor is intermittently disappearing from the screen. Is this my computer problem, or a glich in your system?

Thanks

Good Thinking, way ta go....!!

Sure, you can use thin Moly Grease on the bearings as the oil will wash it away when you fill & drive.

My cursor seems fine, so???

So far this server & software seem ok.

I recieved an e-mail regarding the torque of the flywheel bolts. The confusion is that I used the TR service manual for the figure, yet it appears that for the Boxer it is different.......but nobody seems to know.

Your thoughts?

Cursor now works fine.

Default General rule of thumb says go

General rule of thumb says go by size of bolt. I believe TR's also use 10mm bolts on the flywheel, so they would also be 65lbs.

I can look it up in my TR book tommorow to see if there are errors.
