Default I was inspecting my fuel distr

I was inspecting my fuel distributors and noticed that in one of the cylinder ports in the head of the FD (with the injection line off), there was a blockage. It turns out that the little insert at the bottom of the well had somehow gotten pushed inside out, or mishapened - it looked like a small pebble in the hole. I yanked it out with tweezers and now I just have the hole and no more insert.

I doubt much fuel had been passing by this before, but how important are those little black inserts? Am I now going to have an unrestricted flow into one cylinder now that one is missing, or is it just a mini filter? I would hate to have to have the whole thing rebuilt as a result of this.

Thanks

Default Hi Ted, I would have to say

Hi Ted,

I would have to say that removing "blockage" would have to be a good thing.

As far as flow is concerned I can't see how removing the object could hurt at all. Flow is a combination of Volmume & Pressure. These factors are controlled by the fuel pumps & pressure regulators and the position of the FD Piston in relation to Air Flow Plate Position.

The short story is that all the injector ports will flow the same(restrictions removed ).

Thanks - I just got hold of a fuel distributor expert who indicated that those inserts were little filters and removing one or all makes no difference in terms of flow. Great that everyone is on the same page here and I appreciate the feedback. They are there mainly to keep impurities out!
