Car in LA couple of questions JRV

I've been talking with a guy in LA about his car. It's been in storage for 7-months. He went to get it out last night so a PPI could be done this week and clean it etc. Also, my uncle lives in LA and he's going to look at it, test drive it, and send some pictures and give me his impression of the car. The Owner said he took the cover off, put the battery in and it "fired right up". However, the clutch will not disengage with the flywheel. He thinks is stuck b/c of the storage time.

Ever heard of this? or is it a bad clutch? I guess if he can't get it to drive then I'll know for sure. Is 7-months of storage a bad thing? It was in a garage and covered, and the battery had been removed.

I'll make sure I tell the mechanic doing the PPI to be aware of my concerns regarding storage and possible "garage queen" syndrome.

It's a '76 308GTB with 52,000 miles, original owner. Engine was rebuilt 10K miles ago (5-6 years). I called the engine builder, but he was swamped this week b/c of Monterray this weekend so we're going to talk next week.

My thoughts were good until I heard about this clutch thing. Also, I don't know when the last major was done so it may be due (proably when the engine was rebuilt).

What do you think JRV? Should I avoid this or wait until the PPI is done. It will be done at Blackhorse Motors in LA. Several on Ferrarichat say they are a good shop or have had good experiences with them.

The stuck clutch is common, no big deal.

I just start the cars in gear (when possible) 1st-Rev with the peddle in, when the car lunges just hit the brakes. 99% of the time that's it, fixed...no big deal.

why?

The moisture in the air combines with clutch/brake dust (glue)and the pressure of the PP re-compress's the mixture into a bonding agent. Happens with parking brakes also.
