Emissions test failure question

While checking the engine in our 308QV I discovered that the #1 spark plug boot wasn't pushed all the way down. When I pushed it down I felt it click into place. My question is, if the #1 wasn't getting a spark, wouldn't that have a negative effect on the emissions? It seems like it would with raw fuel from #1 being sent into the exhaust. Just looking for a confirmation.

Jeremy, If the engine was missing it would show up as high HC's also known as Unburned Hydrocarons(gas) but it would have no effect on the CO readings.

High CO numbers on your particular type engine/FI syatem usually indicates something afoul with the Lambda Control System.

Is the Frequency Valve working?

I checked it and did not hear any humming. I even took a short hose so I could listen a little closer, but still no humming. That was my second thought. I plan to bring her in tomorrow morning so you can evaluate the situation. She sure was a lot more powerfull on our short drive tonight!!!!!

Turns out it is the Frequency Valve, as JR had suspected. We have narrowed it down to the FV after diagnosing the Lamda computer and a few relays. The FV is not humming so it appears to be the "Weakest link." JR is ordering one, and should have it installed in a week or so. More updates to come....

Thank you JR for the education. I have a lot more to learn.
