I have heard this discussed on the board but where/how do you do it? I checked the tech articles but didn't see it in there. Does anyone have a pic of it? Thanks.

Default Rich, I need a Tech Article

Rich,

I need a Tech Article for FerrariForum.net by Sunday for their monthly tech page, so why don't you let me use this idea for them and post the link here next week.

I didn't realize there were so many 308's still running around without the Digiplex modification.

If you need the info right away em Jeremy Lawrence and he can fill you in on the details.

Regards, JRV

Default I still have my original Digip

I still have my original Digiplex units in my 308QV. I also paid $1,200.00 for two extra units incase my original ones crap out. I do not know if this was a smart move, but at the time it seemed like a good idea.

JRV, what modifcation can be performed to the Digiplex units?

Default Ken, That's a good pric

Ken,

That's a good price for the digiplexs.

The mod is the addition on external ground wires. A poor ground circut causes additional internal heat to the components and premature failure of the units.

just a side note for gounds. They are very important. Just adding extra ground wires from the battery to the engine and engine heads, 2 to 3 more horsepower is normal to see on the dyno. Even the Nextel Cup(NASCAR) boys have found out about this.we were down a volt and a half at the engine with a rear mounted battery and ground to the rear of a chomemoly frame. Direct gound from battery to the engine corrected the voltage drop.

Interesting Bob. So a 308 where the battery is in the front, engine in the back, I would have to run an extra ground wire from the battery terminal all the way back to the block and engine head? Easier said than done I'm sure.

What guage does the ground have to be, or does it matter?

Yes sir indeed....there are LOTS of examples of insuficient ground circuits causing problems of all different types.

When faced with electrical problems that act strange (outside normal explanation) a test of the grounds circuits are definatly a good place to start looking around. As the cars age the ground circuits become even more of an issue. One typical example of a poor ground circuit is slow 308 windows. While upgrading & modifying the GC doesn't make the windows rocket, it does omprove speed & reduce heat in the switches & motors.
